Smriti Irani slams Deepika Padukone’s visit to JNU.
New Delhi, Jan 10 (HS): Union Minister Smriti Irani today slammed the film actress Deepika Padukone against her visit to the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) saying, she must have known that she was choosing to stand with the people who wanted the destruction of the country (India).
While referring to the incidents that took place at JNU in February 2016 and recently on January 5 (Sunday), Irani said, “I think that anybody who has read the news knew where they were going to stand. If a person can’t be loyal to one’s country, one can’t be loyal to anyone.”
Meanwhile, the people when talked to, including some from the right-wing mindset, have decided to boycott watching Deepika’s new film ‘Chhapak’ in order to register their anguish against her visit to JNU.
When this correspondent talked to some people, they asserted that if she had visited there, she should also have met the other group of students as well.
“She is a film actress. Does she want that only tukde-tukde gang should watch her movies or she is making a pitch for her to enter into politics leaving behind her career in the film industry,” said Mukund Tiwari, a Delhi based lawyer.
Naresh Chandra, a businessman said, “Celebrities should keep themselves away from living politics because they are being liked by everyone irrespective of their political alliance. Visiting JNU and meeting only one group of students was the very objectionable and childish act of Deepika Padukone. If right-wing boycott watching her movies, they are absolutely right in their act.”
