Six people have so far died of COVID-19 in Bengal

Kolkata,01 April(HS):  Three more people in West Bengal died of COVID -19 during the past 24 hours taking the toll of Coronavirus in the state to 6 so far with another 37 people testing positive of the deadly disease-causing concern to the state administration.
According to official sources here, till yesterday morning altogether three people including two women died of COVID-19 in different parts of the state including one in North Bengal.
But since then three more patients including a 77-year-old person in Howrah district and a 58-year-old diabetic patient in North Kolkata who tested positive last week lost their lives because of the killer disease which has been affecting more and more people of all ages every day like those in rest of India.
Referring to the latest victim of the COVID-19 in the state, the official sources said the 58-year-old diabetic patient who was admitted to a private hospital at Beliaghata with symptoms of Coronavirus on 25 March, breathed his last at around 10 a.m. today despite all-out efforts by the doctors to revive his condition.
The condition of at least four more patients in different hospitals in the state was also described as ‘very critical’ and all of them had been put under ventilation as a last-ditch attempt to save their lives, official sources said adding, however, is a ray of hope three other patients including a 25-year-old woman, who tested positive of Coronavirus on their return from abroad, were released from hospitals last night after they fully recovered from the disease.
But all of them were asked to remain in self-quarantine in their homes for another two weeks as a preventive measure.
Meanwhile following the directive of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, the administration of all the 22 districts in West Bengal have started setting up dedicated Nodal hospital to fight COVID-19 in each of the districts on a war footing.
‘We expect to set up such hospitals with enough beds to deal with the situation within the next 24 hours or so’, informed sources said here today.
