Shruti Shibulal, a promoter of Infosys and daughter of co-founder S.D. Shibulal, bought 29.84 lakh shares for ₹469.69 crore on Wednesday. She acquired these shares at ₹1,574 apiece through an open market transaction. Meanwhile, Gaurav Manchanda, a family member of S.D. Shibulal, sold the same number of shares at the same price.

Infosys shares closed at ₹1,589.60 on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) after Wednesday’s trading session, dropping ₹71 or 4.28%. The fall came as IT stocks struggled, with the Nifty IT Index declining 2.91% to 36,310.65. Among the biggest losers, L&T Technology Services dropped 5.27%, Infosys fell 4.31%, and LTIMindtree slipped 3.58%.

Infosys has a market cap of ₹6.60 lakh crore. However, its stock has declined 13.74% in one month and 15.54% year-to-date. Despite this, the company posted strong earnings in the third quarter of FY 2024-25. Its net profit rose 11.4% to ₹6,806 crore, compared to ₹6,106 crore in the same period last year.

Revenue climbed 7.6% to ₹41,764 crore, supported by increased demand from US clients. The company secured large order bookings worth $2.5 billion in the December quarter. This figure was slightly higher than the $2.4 billion recorded in the previous quarter but lower than the $3.2 billion in the year-ago period.

Shruti’s investment signals confidence in Infosys despite recent stock declines. Her move comes as the company focuses on AI-driven growth and digital transformation. Investors are closely watching Infosys as it navigates market challenges while maintaining steady revenue and profit growth.
