Shocking revelations emerge after arrest of key suspect in Baba Siddique murder
Shiv Kumar Gautam, the main accused in the murder of Maharashtra politician Baba Siddique, made shocking revelations following his arrest on Sunday in Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh. The 20-year-old confessed to his connection with Anmol Bishnoi, the brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. Shiv Kumar detailed his role in the killing and how he fled the scene afterward.
Shiv Kumar was arrested with four accomplices while attempting to escape to Nepal. He is one of three shooters involved in the October 12 murder of Baba Siddique, carried out outside his son Zeeshan Siddique’s office in Mumbai. While the other two shooters, Gurnail Singh and Dhramraj Kashyap, were captured earlier, Shiv Kumar had evaded capture.
During questioning, he revealed that Anmol Bishnoi, who is believed to be in Canada, ordered him to shoot either Baba Siddique or his son. “Shoot whoever you see first,” Anmol instructed him. Before the attack, Anmol encouraged Shiv Kumar, telling him that the murder was for “God and society.”
After shooting Baba Siddique, Shiv Kumar immediately changed his shirt to avoid identification. He then blended into the crowd and fled the scene. He traveled to Kurla in an auto, took a train to Thane, and later headed to Pune, where he discarded his phone. Shiv Kumar spent about seven days in Pune before moving on to Jhansi and then Lucknow. There, he bought a new phone and contacted his aides. After staying in Lucknow for 11 days, he traveled to Bahraich, where his aides had arranged a safehouse.
The police traced over 45 people connected to Shiv Kumar, including family and close associates. After tracking their movements, they focused on four key individuals who were in constant contact with him. Authorities laid a trap and arrested Shiv Kumar in the Nanpara area of Bahraich in a joint operation between Uttar Pradesh and Mumbai police.
Anurag Kashyap, Gyan Prakash Tripathi, Akash Srivastava, and Akhileshendra Pratap Singh were also arrested for helping Shiv Kumar hide and facilitating his escape. As of now, 20 people have been arrested in connection with the case.
The motive behind Baba Siddique’s murder is believed to be linked to his ties with actor Salman Khan. The Bishnoi gang reportedly harbors resentment against Khan due to his involvement in the killing of blackbucks, sacred animals to the Bishnoi community.
