Shashi Tharoor met Rahul Gandhi seeking clarity on his role in Congress, but left without answers. Reports suggest he expressed frustration over being sidelined and excluded from major parliamentary debates.

The meeting followed Tharoor’s praise for PM Modi’s US visit and Kerala’s LDF government’s industrial policies, which upset Congress leaders. His article lauding the Kerala government sparked controversy, drawing criticism from the state Congress and opposition.

Tharoor also voiced disappointment over his removal from the All India Professional Congress, which he founded. He wanted to know if Congress wanted him to focus on Kerala ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections. Rahul Gandhi gave no clear response.

Tharoor inquired if he would be Congress’s chief ministerial candidate for Kerala. Rahul replied that the party does not announce CM candidates before elections.

After the meeting, Tharoor declined to reveal further details. He insisted there was no discussion about elections or leadership roles in Kerala. When asked about complaints of sidelining, he denied making any.
