Shahdara Sharief : A Symbol Of Communal Harmony
Jammu, April 26 (HS): Shahdara Sharief is one of the most popular and revered Sufi Shrines in the Jammu region. It is nestled in the Thanamandi Bowl of District Rajouri (J&K). The shrine is dedicated to the respected Sufi Saint, Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah and came up around the 19th century. The Shrine is a symbol of peace, unity and brotherhood in the areas of Rajouri and Poonch, emphasizing on the belief in Sufi culture and bringing together people of various faiths. The amusing geography and natural beauty of Shahdara Sharief resembles to the valley of Kashmir. During the spring season, flowers spread scent to its surroundings whereas in winters it has snow-clad peaks around and white blanket at the footsteps of Dargarh. A langer feeds the pilgrims and devotees without any distinction of Cast and Creed. The Shrine is a binding factor for not only the local populace but also for devotees visiting form POJK. People from all religions visit the shrine on daily basis. Shahdara Sharief has been standing tall from hundred years giving the message to all for spreading Communal Harmony in the entire region. Indian Army for the benefit of the shrine has also contributed for development of various facilities in the shrine for the visiting pilgrims and provides assistance whenever required for the pilgrims moving to the shrine along the Mughal route.
