Shah Rukh Khan to renovate Mannat: Why he needs MCZMA approval

Shah Rukh Khan plans to renovate Mannat, prompting a temporary move to a Pali Hill apartment. His iconic Bandra home, a Grade III heritage structure, will undergo changes starting in May, lasting about two years.
Mannat, once called Villa Vienna, showcases Palladian neo-classical architecture. Its heritage status requires careful modifications. The renovation includes adding two new floors to the existing six, making regulatory approval essential.
Since Mannat stands near the Arabian Sea, SRK needs clearance from the Maharashtra Coastal Zone Management Authority (MCZMA). The MCZMA oversees construction in coastal zones to ensure environmental safety. Any height increase must comply with regulations.
SRK’s wife, Gauri Khan, applied for permission in November. Officials say clearance is crucial for sustainability, preventing debris from being dumped into the sea. The process ensures Mannat’s expansion follows legal and environmental guidelines.
