Every day, hundreds of fans gather outside Mannat, hoping to see Shah Rukh Khan. But starting in May, they will see only construction workers.

SRK and his family are moving out of their iconic sea-facing home for the next two years. Renovation and extension work at Mannat’s annexe will take that long. During this period, the Khan family will shift to Pali Hill in Bandra.

The superstar has leased four floors of Puja Casa, a luxury apartment built by producer Vashu Bhagnani. Sources say the space is not as large as Mannat, but it is sufficient for his security and staff.

Last week, SRK’s company, Red Chillies Entertainment, signed a leave and license agreement with Bhagnani’s children, Jackky Bhagnani and Deepshika Deshmukh, who co-own the property. The star will pay ₹24 lakh per month for the four floors.

In November last year, Gauri Khan sought permission from the Maharashtra Coastal Zone Management Authority (MCZMA) to add two more floors to Mannat’s annexe. The family’s primary residence is set for a major upgrade.

Many industrialists, realtors, and cricketers with properties in Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) areas have used the 2019 Floor Space Index (FSI) amendment under the Development Control and Promotion Regulation (DCPR) to expand their homes.

Despite several inquiries, neither Jackky Bhagnani nor SRK’s manager, Pooja Dadlani, have commented on these developments.

For now, Mannat’s gates will remain closed to fans, but the Khans will return after their home gets a grand makeover.
