Section 144 is still in force in Shaheen Bagh, strict security arrangements

New Delhi, Mar 02 (HS): A large security force is also deployed in Delhi’s Shaheen Bagh area on Monday. Section 144 is applicable in the area and security arrangements are tight. Section 144 was imposed in Shaheen Bagh on Sunday amid protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

Tension spread in Shaheen Bagh and its adjoining areas on Sunday, when a rumour was raised that a crowd was marching towards the protest venue.

Aam Aadmi Party leader Mahmood Ahmed called it a rumour  on social media and said that the situation is normal. Ahmed posted the video on Facebook and said that everything is normal here.

Ahmed appealed to the people to ignore the rumour. He said that the situation is normal in Jaitpur, Madanpur Khadar areas. At the same time, Joint Commissioner of Police Devesh Srivastava present in Shaheen Bagh told the public and also media to exercise restraint and ignore the rumours and said that strict action will be taken against those spreading the rumours.
