Section 144 imposed in Shaheen Bagh
New Delhi, March 01 (HS): Amid the protests being carried out against the Citizenship Amendment Law (CAA), Section 144 has been imposed in Shaheen Bagh of South-East district of Delhi.
Delhi police has categorically asked the people of Shaheen Bagh not to demonstrate or carry out protests in the area of Shaheen Bagh. The police is keeping close eye in the area through drones.
The police have cordoned off the entire area and a large number of police force has been deployed in the area. CRPF personnel have also been deployed keeping in view the gravity of the situation.
The police have pasted posters on barricades not to carry out any type of demonstrations in the area by blocking the roads otherwise strict action would be taken against those.
Women in large number along with their children had been sitting in the area of Shaheen Bagh since December 15 last year in protest of implementation of Citizenship Amendment Law (CAA). The entire area was paralysed due to continuous protests by blocking the roads.
The decision to impose section 144 was taken amid the recent riots that took place in North-East district of Delhi killing more than 42 persons and injuring more than 200 people. Meanwhile, the Hindu Sena has also threatened recently to march in the area against CAA protesters on March 1. Although the Hindu Sena changed its decision after the removal of dharna from there.
Joint Commissioner DC Srivastava who was also present in Shaheen Bagh said that in view of security, a large number of police personnel have been deployed here. “Our aim is to maintain law and order situation in the area and also to prevent any kind of unexpected violence.
