Saurav Ganguly offers Eden Gardens as Corona Virus Isolation centre

Kolkata, 25 March (HS); Setting an example to the rest of the world, BCCI President and former Indian cricket captain Saurav Ganguly here today offered the West Bengal government the city’s iconic Eden Gardens, particularly its indoor practice room and the massive dormitory, to use them for the treatment of Corona virus patients and as an isolation centre to fight the deadly disease on emergency basis.
In a communication to Chief minister Mamata Banerjee who is leaving no stone unturned to fight the killer disease in a comprehensive manner, the Prince of Kolkata, who has kept himself in his South Kolkata residence in isolation for the past few days to prevent the spread of the disease, said here today that the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) as well as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) was ready to offer the services available at the Eden Gardens and all its infrastructural facilities to the state government to help it fight the danger of COVID-19 in the city and elsewhere in the state.
If the government  agreed the CAB  and BCCI would immediately fling open all facilities including the indoor stadium and the huge dormirary  at the Eden Gardens to help fight the disease, he said in a  unique gesture and setting example to all others in rest of the world on how to  help fight unitedly the danger created because of Corona virus.
Meanwhile,apart from converting the entire Medical College and Hospital here as the state’s primary centre to fight COVID-19  and setting up a 500 bed super speciality ward for this purpose yesterday,the state government following instructions from the Chief minister has converted the Dumurjola  Football Stadium in neighbouring Howrah district for the same purpose in cases of emergency.
The offer of Saurav Ganguly to use the Eden Gardens for the same purpose would go a long way towards further strengthening the hands of the state authorities in fighting this dangerous disease.
