Sameer Verma reached quarter finals of Thailand Open

Bangkok, January 21 (HS). Indian star badminton player Sameer Verma has made it to the quarter-finals of the Thailand Open on Thursday. Sameer entered the quarter-finals by defeating Denmark’s Rasmus Gemke.
Sameer, 26, took full control against Gemke and won the match in straight sets by 21–12, 21–9 in a span of 39 minutes.
Earlier, Indian badminton player B Sai Praneeth has been dropped from the Thailand Open after being infected with the Coronavirus.
Badminton World Federation (BWF) said that Praneeth’s Covid-19 test came out positive on Monday, after which he will be in the hospital for at least 10 days.
“The Badminton World Federation confirms that India’s player Sai Praneeth’s Covid-19 Test came out positive, after which he was dropped from the Thailand Open,” the BWF said in an official statement.
