RTE admissions in UP private schools: Process commencing from March 2
PRAYAGRAJ, Feb 22 (HS): The application process for Right to Education (RTE) admissions in private schools of Uttar Pradesh is all set to start from March 2. Parents belonging to the economically weaker section (EWS), who are interested in enrolling their wards in recognised unaided private schools in academic session 2021-22 under Right to Education (RTE) Act.
Director of school education, UP, Vijay Kiran Anand has issued a letter, a copy of which is with HS, to all basic shiksha adhikari (BSAs) and directed them to see that all the recognised private schools in urban areas register their details. While according to the norms, the application process has to be completed online, but those who are unable to use the online platform are permitted to get in touch with the authorities of the education department.
Application process will remain offline for rural areas.
“The application process will commence from March 2 and continue till March 25. We lay emphasis on the online application process but those who do not have access to the online platform may get in touch with the education department authorities,” Vijay Kiran Anand said.
Under the RTE Act, it is mandatory for private schools to admit 25% students of the total strength from BPL. The admission process is completed when the lotteries are conducted on the applications. “The applications will be verified from March 26 to March 28. The lottery system will be conducted by March 30 and students will be admitted in the schools by April 5. Meanwhile, in the second phase, the application process will be done from April 1 to April 23,” added Anand while speaking to HS. The RTE Act mandates providing free education to these students. While Rs 5,000 per student is deposited into the bank account of the parent for the child’s uniform, books and stationery, Rs 450 or a month’s fee, whichever is less, is deposited to the school’s account.
(SC/ST/disabled/orphaned etc) is eligible to apply under the scheme. Any child in 3-6 age group as on April 1, 2021 and belonging to economically weaker section (with annual income of family below 1 lakh) or to disadvantaged group. Besides address proof, an income certificate or caste certificate as the case may be will be sufficient to apply.
