On arriving here, he headed straight away to RSS office in Jhunsi. At 6.00 p.m, he will perform Ganga aarti at Sangam noze. Another RSS functionary Murarji Tripathi said, “We will promote organic farming by training the farmers for its implementation so as to gradually stop the use of chemical fertilizers. As of now, farmers majorly use chemical fertilizers in their crops which during rains wash down into Ganga which then pollutes it and affects water quality. This initiative aims to stop that as in organic farming the farmers will stop using the chemical fertilizers.”

Explaining the importance of this project, senior office bearer Ganga Samagra, Chintamani Singh said that it ‘will not only improve the water quality but will also improve the quality of agricultural produce in the crops near Ganga. “The improved water quality will be beneficial for the river’s ecosystem. Apart from this, with organic farming, the people will be able to get good quality vegetables and fruits from the crops near Ganga. So it is a win-win situation for all,” he added. Moreover, taking a cue from the recent agitation by Nishad community in Prayagraj, RSS chief along with other functionaries will contemplate to sustain livelihood of those communities that are associated with Ganga river like Mallah, Mali, pujari, panda among others. Plans are afoot to provide adequate training to these communities with the aim of honing and sharpening their skills.

The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) will lead efforts to formulate an action plan for dealing with the discharge of untreated waste into the Ganga, a functionary of the organisation said. The plan will be discussed during the ongoing Magh Mela in Prayagraj on Saturday. “Around 600 workers from six states have gathered to brainstorm on the topic ‘Ganga for us, We for Ganga’ and finalise an action plan,” said Morarji Tripathi, the RSS functionary. He said RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat will chair two sessions of discussions and also address volunteers. “The aim is to come out with an action plan for a pollution-free and free-flowing Ganga so that its implementation on the ground could be started from next month.”
