RPF arrests 7 criminals involved in crime against passengers, 12 minors rescued

Guwahati, July 03 (HS): Railway Protection Force (RPF) of N.F. Railway rescued as many as 12 minor boys and girls from different stations/trains during the week (24th to 30th June) before the children could be lured by anti-social elements. During this period, RPF arrested seven criminals who were involved in various types of crimes against railway passengers.

Pranav Jyoti Sharma, CPRO, NF Railway said that on 27 June, CPDS (Crime Prevention & Detection Squad) team apprehended five persons during routine checking at Katihar Railway station. They were involved in theft of passengers’ belongings by administering them sedative drugs. Sedative tablets, cash and one mobile phone stolen from the passengers were recovered from their possession.
On 30th June, RPF conducted a drive against anti-social activities at concourse area of Guwahati railway station and apprehended one person and recovered one bag, 3 money purses, 1 mobile phone, 2 PAN cards, 1 Voter ID, 1 SBI ID card, 1 ATM card and cash Rs. 5070 stolen from the passengers.

The same day RPF team apprehended one person at Mariyani station and recovered two mobile phones from his possession which were stolen from the passengers. Later, arrested persons along with recovered articles were handed over to GRP for further course of action.
