Relief to Shiv Sena, NCP, and Congress, SC refuses to hear soon
New Delhi, Nov 27 (HS): The alliance of Shiv Sena, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Congress has got a big relief from the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court has refused to hear the petition filed against the formation of the government in Maharashtra. The court said that there is no need for early hearing in this case. In fact, petitioner Surendra Indra Bahadur Singh has demanded that a coalition government should not be formed after the elections. This is unconstitutional.
The Supreme Court in its order on Tuesday asked Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to prove his majority in the assembly before 5 pm on Wednesday. Hours after this order, Deputy CM Ajit Pawar and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis resigned from their posts. The court said in its order that there will be no secret voting and the proceedings of the house will be broadcast live.
After the formation and swearing of the BJP -led government in Maharashtra on Saturday morning, the Shiv Sena reached the Supreme Court in the evening and appealed to direct the new government to prove its majority within 24 hours. The court, in its order on Tuesday, ordered a floor test on Wednesday, but before that the BJP government fell. Now Uddhav Thackeray will take oath as Chief Minister on Thursday.
