Reliance captures significant share of subscription in telecom sector

New Delhi, July. 19(HS): According to the information shared by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India(TRAI), Vodafone Idea leads the telecom industry with 33.36 percent wireless market share in terms of subions in month of May. However, the number 2 spot has been captured by Reliance Jio Infocomm with 27.8 percent market share in place of Bharti Airtel which holds third spot with 27.58 market share this time in month of May.

The findings of this data reveals that Reliance has augmented 81.8 lakh new subscribers in May while the subscriber base of Vodafone has been curtailed by 57 lakh subions and Bharti Airtel lost 15.1 lakh subscribers during month of May.

However, the total number of subscribers of Jio stands at 32.29 crore after largest total number of Vodafone Subscribers.

It is noteworthy that total number of wireless subscribers witnessed nominal decline of 4.4 lakh in May in comparison to the number of subscribers in April. However, increase of 40 lakh urban wireless subion was noticed but this increase was offset by decline in rural subion.
