Rekha Gupta’s Delhi govt to present 14 CAG reports on AAP today
The Delhi government, led by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, will present 14 CAG reports on the AAP administration’s performance in the Assembly on Tuesday. The reports, previously withheld by AAP, include audits of state finances, public health, transport, liquor supply, and air pollution control.
The reports cover multiple financial years, including 2020-21, 2021-22, and 2022-23. Key assessments include the management of children in need of care, the functioning of the Delhi Transport Corporation, and the handling of public funds.
In December, then-LG Vinai Kumar Saxena criticized AAP for failing to table the reports, calling it a violation of constitutional duty. He urged a special session to discuss them. At the time, Atishi, now the Leader of Opposition, led the government.
Gupta, heading Delhi’s first BJP government since 1998, accused AAP of misusing public funds. She vowed to ensure accountability, saying AAP must explain its financial decisions.
The three-day session began Monday with Gupta, 47 BJP MLAs, and 22 AAP members taking their oaths. The reports will likely spark heated debates in the Assembly.
