Ratings down for few institutes while certain others go up

Chennai, June 12 (HS) NIRF ratings released by the Ministry of Human Resources on Thursday brought some smiles for Tamil Nadu on Thursday. This had made many in Tamil Nadu celebrate the momentous occasion as IIT Madras truly stands to be an iconic institution . Besides some other institutuions in the Stat saw their respective rankings go up.
SASTRA, a deemed-to-be university from Thanjavur district in Tamil Nadu had also seen its ranking move up to 48 from 63 in 2019.
The same was with Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education And Research, well-known for medical education.
This institution’s ranking went up to 51 from its 54 in 2019. Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology also based in Chennai has seen an upward move with regards to NIRF ranking. Its rank this year is 61 from 64 last year.
Vellore Institute of Technology’s rank this year is 18 while it was was 32 in 2019 . Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham which has campuses in Bengaluru, Mysuru, Kochi, Coimbatore and Chennai has also moved up in the ranking list.
Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham got a rank of 13 from last year’s 15. Madras Medical College which is one of the oldest educational institutions in Chennai has been placed among the top medical colleges with a rank of 12.
However on the other side, Anna University, which is another very popular educational institution in Chennai, only saw its rank moving down from 14 to 20.
There was no happy news with regards to Madras University too in the NIRF rankings which came down from 33 to 41.
The story was not different at Ethiraj College for Women in Chennai whose ranking came down to 46 this year previous year’s 36.
About 20 law institutions have won ranking in the category , however no educational institution from Tamil Nadu has found a place in that.
Madurai Kamaraj University, Bharath Institute of Higher Education and Research too are among the institutions whose rankings went down.
Madurai Kamaraj University is 84 this year from 69 last year while Bharath Institute of Higher Education and Research ranking was 87 while the previous year it stood at 57.
