Rajnath Singh rejects BJP hand in Karnataka crisis, pins blame on Rahul
New Delhi, July. 8 (HS): Reacting to Congress’ allegations of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s role in orchestrating the political crisis in Karnataka, Defence minister Rajnath Singh on Monday addressed the parliament in the Lok Sabha saying that BJP had no role in the current political fallout between the ruling Congress-Janata Dal United (JDS) alliance in Karnataka.
Asserting that BJP was committed to maintain the dignity of parliamentary democracy, Singh further blamed Congress President Rahul Gandhi over the matter and said the slew of resignations of senior Congress leaders have continued since Gandhi himself resigned as the party chief and asked senior leaders from the party to follow suit.
Rajnath Singh, who is the deputy leader of the Lok Sabha was responding to Congress Member of Parliament (MP), Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary who raised the ongoing political crisis in Karnataka during the zero Hour in the lower house accusing the BJP of spearheading defections to destabilise the ruling Congress-JD(S) alliance.
Singh said that BJP did not believe in the politics of horse-trading.
However, objections were raised from the Congress leaders on the Parliament floor displaying “Save Democracy” posters before Rajnath Singh spoke rejecting any role of BJP saying,”Whatever is happening in Karnataka, our party has nothing to do with it”.
Earlier today, twenty-one members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs) from the Congress had resigned voluntarily from the Council of Ministers while all the JD(S) MLAs too resigned from their posts with the Karnataka chief minister office (CMO) announcing to reshuffle the state cabinets following the political crisis which began from last week.
However, Karnataka CM HD Kumaraswamy earlier addressed the media assuring of solving the current political situation in the state and confident of running the government smoothly.
