Railway services to resume in Kashmir Valley from November 11

Jammu, NOVEMBER 6(HS): Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan today asked the Railway authorities to restore the train services in valley from next week. He passed on this direction during the meeting with railway officials, Districts’ Administration and police convened to discuss restoration of railway services in Kashmir. The meeting was attended by IGP Kashmir zone, SSP Srinagar, SSP Railways, Additional Commissioner, Kashmir, ADC Srinagar, Chief Controller, Northern Railways, Senior Divisional Mechanical engineer, Northern railways and other concerned officials. Besides, DC Baramulla, DC Anantnag, DC Pulwama, ADC Budgam, SSP Sopore, SSP Awantipora, SSP Pulwama, SSP Baramulla and SSP Budgam attended the meeting through video conferencing. On the occasion, Div Com held a threadbare discussion with the officials and reviewed measures for restoring train service in the valley, which was suspended in August. While asking the officials to make all arrangements for resuming train services, Div Com passed various instructions after the thorough discussion. Div Com directed the Railway authorities to conduct a track inspection within three days, which will be followed by a trial run on November 10 and the resumption of services from November 11. The meeting was convened to review the available and required facilities for District Hospital Shopian. The meeting was attended by Chief Medical Officer, and Medical Superintendent DH, Exn PDD, Exn PHE and various other concerned. During the meeting various agenda points were discussed including upgradation of general operation theater, labor room, establishment of SNCU as per NQAS Standard, Trauma management, purchase of medicines & equipment, renovation of various halls, macademization of parking lot, installation of CCTvs, drainage system, purchase of staff buses, repair of street lights, construction of bio medical waste & solar sheds, purchase of projector and communication system for the hospital. Speaking on the occasion, DDC enjoined upon the members of the governing body to work with close coordination and ensure that all possible facilities are kept available for the patients as well as attendants visiting the hospital. During the meeting, CMO briefed about the functioning of District Hospital. He also appraised the DDC about various hampering issues for early redressal for smooth functioning of the Hospital. Earlier, the Deputy Commissioner, inspected District Hospital Shopian to take stock of healthcare and other facilities being provided to patients. During the visit, DC inspected various wards of the hospital and took stock of the medical facilities He interacted with patients and enquired about the facilities being provided to them. Meanwhile, DC also took a stock of ongoing works of the hospital and directed the concerned executing agency to complete the remaining works at an earliest.
