Rail service resumes in Kashmir Valley from today, was closed for last three months

Srinagar, Nov 11(HS): Rail service in the Kashmir Valley which has been closed for the last three months restores from Monday. After the removal of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, the railway service was stopped in view of the possible dangers.

Kashmir’s Divisional Commissioner Bashir Ahmad Khan had recently instructed the railway officials to complete the inspection of the railway lines in three days. Trial run of trains was allowed on 10 November and it was directed to be fully restored from 11 November. Railway service was stopped from Baramulla in north Kashmir to Banihal in south Kashmir on 5 August. This decision was taken after the removal of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir. Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh have come into existence as Union Territories since 31 October.

On the other hand, in view of the Ayodhya verdict in Jammu, closed school-colleges and other educational institutions have been opened. According to Jammu division commissioner Sanjeev Verma, wherever necessary, the rules governed with the deployment of forces will remain in force but will not have any effect on normal life.

As a precaution in view of the Supreme Court ‘s decision, the ban was imposed under Section 144 of the CrPC in the newly created Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir from Friday midnight. Sanjeev Verma told reporters that after being closed on Saturday, all educational institutions including schools and colleges will re-open on Monday. He said that examinations in schools falling in Winter Zone will be conducted along with examinations of other areas.
