Rahul Gandhi takes oath as member of Lok Sabha
New Delhi, June 17 (HS): Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Monday took oath as a member of the 17th Lok Sabha.
He had recently won the General elections from Wayanad parliamentary constituency while losing the Gandhi family stronghold of Uttar Pradesh’s Amethi constituency seat to BJP leader and Union Minister Smriti Irani by a margin of over 55,000 votes.
Prior, to the starting of the maiden session of Parliament, Gandhi met his mother and United Progressive Alliance (UPA) chairperson Sonia Gandhi and sister Priyanka Gandhi at his residence today.
Clad in white Kurta- pyjama, Gandhi took oath in English and was seated in the Parliament besides his mother.
The Congress President tweeted beginning his new political journey from Wayanad assuring full faith towards the Constitution of India.
He tweeted a video of him taking oath for the fourth consecutive term as a Member of Parliament (MP) in the Lower House of the Parliament.
Rahul tweeted, “My 4th consecutive term as a member of the Lok Sabha begins today. Representing Wayanad, Kerala, I begin my new innings in Parliament by taking my oath this afternoon, affirming that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the Constitution of India.”
