Rahul Gandhi criticizes Kejriwal, highlights Congress ideology at Delhi rally
Rahul Gandhi launched sharp attacks on AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal during a rally in east Delhi’s Seelampur on Monday. He accused Kejriwal of following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s strategy of false promises and propaganda. Gandhi claimed neither Modi nor Kejriwal supported the caste census, keeping backward sections, Dalits, and minorities deprived of their rights.
“Ask Kejriwal and Modi if they back the caste census. Both remain silent because they don’t want justice for the underprivileged,” Gandhi said. He alleged billionaires like Adani and Ambani dominate the system while the poor suffer. He criticized Kejriwal for never addressing these issues.
Within hours, Kejriwal responded on X, stating, “Rahul Gandhi abused me today, but I will not comment. My fight is for the country, his is to save Congress.”
The rally occurred amid tension within the INDIA bloc, where some parties recently sided with AAP over Congress. Gandhi accused Kejriwal of failing to tackle Delhi’s problems like pollution, inflation, and corruption. He compared Kejriwal’s promises to Modi’s media-driven propaganda.
Gandhi reminded the audience of Sheila Dikshit’s Congress-led Delhi government, which prioritized development. He urged voters to support Congress for Delhi’s progress, claiming neither BJP nor AAP could deliver. “Kejriwal promised to end corruption and turn Delhi into Paris. Instead, pollution and inflation soared, and corruption persists,” he said.
The rally, themed “Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Samvidhan,” emphasized Congress’s commitment to equality. Gandhi declared Congress would protect every citizen, regardless of religion or caste. “When anyone faces violence, Congress stands with them. This is our ideology,” he asserted.
Gandhi promised a caste census and removal of reservation caps if Congress gains power. He also accused the BJP-RSS of spreading hatred and undermining the Constitution. “We marched from Kanyakumari to Kashmir to defend Ambedkar’s Constitution, which BJP attacks daily,” he said.
Concluding, Gandhi emphasized Congress’s clarity in politics and its mission to uplift the poorest across all communities. He appealed to voters to restore Congress in Delhi, vowing a return to the development seen under Sheila Dikshit.
