Rag picker gets a decent burial in Chennai, thanks to police

A 60 year-old rag-picker, whose body was lying dead on the platform near Otteri Housing Board in Chennai, got a decent burial on Friday. A police officer came forward and lend a helping hand to the family of the deceased.
Inspector of Police at Secretariat Colony police station, received a call about death of a woman rag-picker, on Friday. The half naked dead body was lying on the railway platform and passers nearby refrained from helping out of fear of Corona virus. The deceased was identified as Prabhavathi, who lived on the footpath along with her sisters. The sisters were desperately asking for help but nobody came forward.
The police team rushed to the spot and inspector covered the dead body with a saree.
Later, police called an ambulance and performed proper bath rites of Prabhavathi. After which body was taken to Otteri graveyard, where a priest conducted burial rites with respect.
