Punjab: 4 held for petrol bomb attack on Hindu leaders
Punjab Police arrested four individuals for launching petrol bomb attacks on the homes of leaders from various Hindu organizations, including Shiv Sena. Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav announced the arrests on social media platform X on Tuesday morning.
The police identified the suspects as connected to Babbar Khalsa International, a terrorist organization. Specifically, they linked the attacks to Harjeet Singh, alias Ladi, who allegedly orchestrates the incidents from abroad. The police stated that this operation involved coordinated actions by Ludhiana Police and Counter Intelligence.
Yadav revealed that the recent arrests provided crucial insights into previous attacks on Shiv Sena leaders that occurred in October and a more recent incident at the residence of Harkirat Singh Khurana in Ludhiana. Authorities seized motorcycles and mobile phones from the accused, and they are now investigating their backgrounds for further information.
Harjeet Singh Ladi, considered the kingpin of the gang, has a criminal history. He is a suspect in the Vikas Prabhakar murder case in Nangal, and the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has placed a bounty of ₹10 lakh on him. This bounty underscores the seriousness with which authorities are pursuing Ladi and his associates.
The police believe these arrests will help curb further violence and provide a sense of security to the targeted communities. Yadav emphasized the importance of these investigations to ensure that those behind the violence are brought to justice. The police continue to monitor the situation and have increased patrols around the affected areas to prevent any retaliatory attacks.
As investigations progress, the Punjab Police remain committed to maintaining law and order, assuring the public that they will take all necessary measures to safeguard the communities. This incident highlights ongoing tensions in the region, prompting authorities to act swiftly to prevent escalation and protect citizens.
