Puducherry CM unveils ₹13K-Cr budget for FY26

Puducherry Chief Minister N Rangasamy presented a ₹13,600 crore budget for FY26 on Wednesday, focusing on welfare and development. The government allocated ₹11,624.7 crore for revenue expenditure, ₹1,975.3 crore for capital projects, and ₹689 crore for green initiatives.

Rangasamy, who also handles the finance portfolio, said most funds cover salaries, pensions, loan repayments, and interest payments. To support students, the government will provide ₹1,000 per month for three years to those who studied in government schools from classes 6 to 12 and are now in higher education. The scheme has a ₹9.34 crore budget.

The midday meal program will now include eggs daily instead of three times a week. Rangasamy credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for backing various welfare schemes and infrastructure projects in Puducherry.
