Melbourne, 18 March (HS): After winning the Sheffield Shield title, New South Wales captain Peter Neville said he was proud of his team’s performance.
Neville said, “There are obviously very strange situations due to the Coronavirus but the entire team performed well and I am very proud of the team’s performance.”
New South Wales was declared the winner of the Sheffield Shield on Tuesday after the final match was canceled due to a Coronovirus epidemic.
The cancellation of the final match was announced when Cricket Australia strongly recommended that cricket should be discontinued at all levels to avoid the global Coronavirus epidemic.
At the Sheffield Shield, New South Wales won six matches, lost two and drew one and the team earned 50.76 points.
Neville said, “The strength of our team is to always be positive. We have created an environment that enables us to achieve success and it is very satisfying.”
Victoria was on second place in the competition with 38.53 points with three wins, three defeats and three draws.
Noting that due to the threat of Coronavirus, Cricket Australia also announced that their offices have been closed and employees have been advised to work from home until further notice.
