Protesters of JNU students proceed to Parliament, three barricades broken
New Delhi, Nov 18 (HS): The Parliament march of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) students has started against the fee hike. Around two to three thousand students are taking out the march. Three barricades installed at the JNU gate have been broken by the students. Now the students are trying to break the last barricade on Ber Sarai Road. Section 144 has been implemented outside the JNU campus.
The protesting students say that our demands are not being accepted. Therefore, we will march till Parliament. The flock of students has reached the last barricade of the police stationed at Ber Inn. Students have climbed over the barricade and are trying to break the last barricade as well. Several students were detained trying to break the barricade. The last barricade has broken some students. However, the police are trying to stop the students.
The clash between JNU students and police has been going on for almost an hour and a half. Students have covered a distance of half a kilometer.
A large number of police forces have been deployed outside JNU Gate. Delhi Police has deployed 9 Company Forces. Around 1200 policemen have been deployed, including Delhi Police and CRPF personnel.
Delhi Police officials said that JNU students will not be allowed to go to Parliament. Section-144 is engaged around Parliament. Sources said that there is a plan to stop JNU students within a radius of one kilometer around JNU. However, at which point it will be stopped, it has not been finalized yet.
