Proposal to give 5 pc reservation to Muslims in education in Maharashtra
Mumbai, Feb 28 (HS): The Shiv Sena-led Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi government can provide reservation in education to Muslims in the state. It was announced by Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Nawab Malik. In the Legislative Council on Friday, he said that Muslim society will be given reservation.
The Minority Minister in the state government, Nawab Malik said that the previous government (BJP) did not give five percent reservation to Muslims in education and hence our government would bring an ordinance to provide this reservation to minority.
Malik said, “We will try to give reservation to Muslims in education by the end of this (assembly) session. We will try to give 5 percent reservation.”
According to the information the present government was planning to provide reservation to minorities in education in the Maharashtra Assembly session. The minister said that legal advice is being sought regarding reservation in jobs also and a decision will be taken soon in this regard.
