New York/Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s meeting with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in New York is being seen as a significant diplomatic engagement. The two leaders met at the Lotte New York Palace Hotel during Modi’s visit to the U.S., where they discussed a range of key issues.

Modi emphasized India’s continued support for the swift restoration of peace and stability in the region, reaffirming the long-standing friendship between India and Palestine.

In a message shared on his X handle, Modi wrote, “Met President Mahmoud Abbas in New York. Reiterated India’s support for the early restoration of peace and stability in the region.

Exchanged views to further strengthen long-term friendship with the people of Palestine.”

India has consistently supported a two-state solution to the Israel-Palestine conflict, advocating for peaceful dialogue and mutual recognition between Israel and Palestine.

Following the Hamas terrorist attack on October 7 last year, Modi was among the first world leaders to condemn the violence.

However, India has also voiced its concerns about the worsening humanitarian situation in Gaza, calling for restraint and peaceful resolution on both sides.

The meeting comes at a time when the Israel-Palestine conflict remains unresolved, with escalating tensions in the region.

Modi’s commitment to peace and India’s diplomatic balancing act—condemning terrorism while advocating for a peaceful two-state solution—demonstrates India’s important role on the global stage.

The ongoing dialogue between India and Palestine reflects efforts to maintain stability and foster deeper ties, even in challenging circumstances.
