New Delhi, Dec 23 (HS): The President of India Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi today greeted the people of Israel on the occasion of Chhag Hanukkah, a festival being celebrated in Israel and compared it with the Indian festival Diwali. An eight-day festival is being celebrated by the Yahudi community of Israel with full zeal and zest.
President Kovind said in a tweet message, “Hanukkah, the festival of lights, fill the hearts of all Israelis with joy. I wish all of you happiness and prosperity on the occasion of this festival.”
Modi said in a tweet message, “Congratulations to the people of Israel on Chhag Hanukkah. The festivals of Hanukkah and Dipawali reflect the shared cultural commonality between India and Israel. Both these festivals are the victory of good over evil and the festival of light.”
