President Kovind accepts resignation of Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal..
New Delhi, 18 September (HS): President Ramnath Kovind on Friday accepted the resignation of Union Minister for Food Processing Industries Harsimrat Kaur Badal and has given the charge of the Ministry to Cabinet Minister Narendra Singh Tomar.
Harsimrat gave her resignation on Thursday in protest against three bills related to agriculture that were passed in the Lok Sabha.
Issuing an official notice, the President Kovind, after consultation with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi accepted Badal’s resignation.
The statement also said that the Ministry of Food Processing that was earlier with Harsimrat Kaur, now has been given to Cabinet Minister Narendra Singh Tomar as additional Charge.
Modi government on Monday introduced the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Bill, Farmers Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Simplification) Bill and Farmers’ (Empowerment and Protection) Price Assurance and Agreement Bill on Agricultural Services. Since then, farmers started protests in many places including Punjab. In view of that, Harsimrat Kaur Badal resigned from the Modi Cabinet.
