Premier League players to sport Black Lives Matter on their back
London, June 12 (HS): To support the ongoing anti-racism movement around the world, now Premier League players will hit the ground at the start of the season wearing a shirt with the words “Black Lives Matter” on their backs.
These words will replace their surnames on the players backs, while the BLM logo will be displayed in front of the players’ jerseys.
On May 25, after the death of a black man, George Floyd, who was killed in police custody in Minneapolis, there was a worldwide protest against racial injustice, after which the sports world is also raising its voice against it.
Many of the league’s clubs have over the past few weeks protested against racial injustice, kneeling and posting photos on social media.
In addition, the club will also pay homage to the Corona virus victims by holding a minute’s silence.
The Premier League season was suspended in March due to a growing outbreak of the coronavirus epidemic, but now the season will be resumed three months later from June 17.
