Police have arrested 20-year-old state-level boxer Arjun Tanwar for allegedly murdering his father Rajesh Kumar Tanwar (51), a former Armyman, his mother Komal (46), and sister Kavita (23) in South Delhi’s Devli village. Investigators recovered the murder weapon, a large knife, and a blood-soaked sweatshirt Arjun allegedly wore during the crime.

On Wednesday morning, Arjun reportedly made a PCR call and confessed to the murders during questioning. Police found blood stains on his house keys and motorcycle key. Later, they recovered the sweatshirt and knife from Sanjay Van, a forest 8 km from the crime scene. Arjun allegedly changed clothes and dumped the evidence after the crime.

According to police, Arjun had a strained relationship with his family. He believed his parents favored his sister and planned to transfer the family property to her. Tensions escalated after a fight during Kavita’s birthday party on December 1. Police say Rajesh had previously scolded and humiliated Arjun in front of relatives, fueling his anger.

Neighbors expressed disbelief over the allegations. A local driver, who knew the family for a decade, described them as soft-spoken and well-mannered. “I never saw Arjun fight with anyone,” he said. Rajesh’s cousin, Sube Singh, also dismissed claims of a property dispute, stating that the family had limited assets. He added that Rajesh was proud of Arjun’s achievements and spoke highly of him.

The case has shocked the community, with many questioning the motives and the tragic turn of events. Police continue to investigate the incident.
