PM to meet JNK leaders to resolve political deadlock after abrogation of Article 370
New Delhi, 24 June (HS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called an important meeting of Kashmiri leaders on Thursday, resolving the political deadlock that arose between the central government and Kashmiri leaders after the abrogation of Article 370. Leaders of various parties are participating in this meeting. Most of the leaders have reached Delhi a day before to attend the meeting. On the other hand, a 48-hour alert has been issued on Jammu and Kashmir and the Line of Control. During this, a decision can also be taken to keep the high speed internet services closed in Kashmir.
All eyes are on the meeting, which is going to be held at the Prime Minister’s residence at three o’clock this afternoon. For this, 14 leaders of eight parties including former Chief Ministers and former Deputy Chief Ministers of Jammu and Kashmir were invited for the meeting. The leaders include the Gupkar alliance, Ghulam Nabi Azad, Farooq Abdullah, Mehbooba Mufti, Omar Abdullah, Kavinder Gupta, Nirmal Singh, Ravindra Raina, Tarachand, Muzaffar Baig, Sajjad Lone, Bhim Singh, MY Taragami, Altaf Bukhari. After the abrogation of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir, many of these leaders will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a long interval. Many leaders remained under house arrest during this period.
The initiative taken by the central government regarding the meeting is being considered very important after the current situation in the state. No agenda has been laid for this, but it is believed that in this, the delimitation of the state including the development of Jammu and Kashmir and other issues can be discussed by the central government with local representatives. Along with this, discussions can also be held with these leaders to conduct assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir at the earliest. However, many other Kashmiri leaders including Mehbooba Mufti can put other demands in the meeting, including the reinstatement of Article 370 in the state.
Earlier, the Central Government sent an invitation to the leaders to prepare for a meeting with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and top officials regarding the situation in Jammu and Kashmir. With little hesitation, the leaders of all the parties accepted the invitation of the Central Government for the meeting. A lot of discussions are taking place in the country as well as across the border regarding this important meeting.
