PM takes aim at opposition: ‘No foreign interference in 10 years’ ahead of Budget Session
Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a sharp remark ahead of the Budget Session, stating that for the first time in ten years, no foreign attempts had been made to stir trouble before Parliament’s session. “This is likely the first session since 2014 when no effort has been made to provoke any foreign tension a day before,” PM Modi said.
He continued, noting that for the past decade, every session had seen mischief and escalations from certain quarters, yet this time, such attempts had been absent.
In his address, Modi emphasized India’s forward momentum, saying, “We are advancing in mission mode.” He highlighted the three pillars driving the nation’s economic strategy: innovation, inclusion, and investment. According to Modi, these elements have shaped India’s roadmap for economic growth.
He also expressed confidence that this Budget session would boost the nation’s goals of becoming a “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India) by 2047, marking 100 years of independence. “I am sure this session will inject new energy and confidence toward this goal,” he remarked.
The Budget Session, set to begin on January 31, will unfold in two phases, with the first part running until February 13. After a recess, Parliament will reconvene on March 10 and conclude on April 4. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Union Budget for 2025 on February 1.
This will mark her eighth consecutive budget presentation, setting a record for consecutive terms. However, the record for the most budget presentations belongs to former Prime Minister Morarji Desai, who presented ten budgets during his tenure.
Modi’s speech underscored the importance of the Budget Session, stating that the decisions made during this period would shape India’s future trajectory, ensuring it meets the aspirations of its people.
As Parliament gears up for these crucial discussions, the nation watches with anticipation to see how the proposed budget aligns with the government’s vision for a prosperous and developed India.
