Prime Minister Narendra Modi made history on Sunday by visiting the RSS headquarters in Nagpur, marking the first-ever visit by a sitting PM. He paid tribute to RSS founder Keshav Baliram Hedgewar and its second chief, MS Golwalkar, at Dr. Hedgewar Smruti Mandir. RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat accompanied him during the visit.

PM Modi’s visit coincided with the Sangh’s Pratipada programme, celebrating Gudi Padwa, the Hindu New Year. He also paid respects to BR Ambedkar at Deekshabhoomi, the site where Ambedkar converted to Buddhism in 1956 with thousands of followers.

Key Highlights of PM Modi’s Visit to Nagpur:

  • Madhav Netralaya Premium Centre: PM Modi laid the foundation stone for this advanced ophthalmic care facility.

  • Defence Projects: He inaugurated the Loitering Munition Testing Range and a UAV runway at Solar Defence and Aerospace Limited.

  • Ammunition Facility: He visited the facility to unveil a 1,250m-long UAV airstrip and a warhead testing range.

RSS leaders welcomed the visit and dismissed claims of a rift between the Prime Minister and the Sangh leadership. RSS ideologue Seshadri Chari noted that this was PM Modi’s first visit to Smruti Mandir since taking office.

PM Modi’s Chhattisgarh Schedule:

  • Development Projects: In Bilaspur, he will launch projects worth ₹33,700 crore spanning power, oil, gas, rail, road, education, and housing.

  • Public Address: He will speak at multiple events, highlighting his government’s commitment to infrastructure and economic growth.

This visit strengthens PM Modi’s ties with the RSS while reinforcing his focus on national development.
