PM Modi Meets Japan’s PM Shigeru Ishiba
Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Japan’s new Prime Minister, Shigeru Ishiba, during the ASEAN-India Summit in Laos. Modi congratulated Ishiba on his appointment and expressed confidence in his leadership. He assured that India will continue to prioritize its strong relationship with Japan, emphasizing the importance of their strategic partnership.
Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to deepening ties across key sectors. They discussed enhancing trade, investment, infrastructure, and defense cooperation. Additionally, they explored collaboration in semiconductors, skilling initiatives, and cultural exchanges.
Modi and Ishiba also highlighted the significance of India-Japan relations in maintaining peace and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region. Stressing the importance of their partnership, they agreed to continue working closely to ensure regional stability. Both looked forward to further discussions at the next India-Japan annual summit.
The Ministry of External Affairs reported that the leaders remain focused on strengthening the Special Strategic and Global Partnership.
