PM Modi made a gesture to quit social media

New Delhi, Mar 08 (HS):  Prime Minister Narendra Modi is considering leaving the social media platform Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube. In a shocking tweet on Monday evening he informed the same. After this sensational  tweet of PM Modi, his supporters are appealing to him not to quit , while the opposition and his critics are interpreting his move otherwise.

Congress leader Shashi Tharoor said that PM Modi’s sudden announcement of quitting social media has made people worried. People are fearing whether it is proposed to ban social media platforms across the country. Tharoor wrote, ‘PM Modi is well aware that social media can be a good platform to send positive and useful messages. It is not for spreading hatred.

Shashi Tharoor wrote on twitter, The PM’s abrupt announcement has led many to worry whether it’s a prelude to banning these services throughout the country too. He said  @narendramodi knows well, social media can also be a force for good & for positive & useful messaging. It doesn’t have to be about spreading hate.

Apart from Tharoor, political commentator Sudhindra Kulkarni has also expressed great apprehension on PM Modi’s tweet. He wrote- ‘This can be a big attack on freedom of expression.’ Sudhindra Kulkarni tweeted -A big assault on Indian people’s FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION and COMMUNICATION – and hence on DEMOCRACY- could become. Time to be vigilant he tweeted.
