PM Modi lays foundation stone of Light House Projects in six states

Lucknow, 01 January (HS) :   Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday, the first day of New Year, virtually laid the foundation stone of Light House Projects (LHP) in six states including Uttar Pradesh under the Global Housing Technology Challenges (GHTC).

While speaking on the occasion PM Modi said that the country is now getting new technology to build houses. He said that these six projects will show new direction to housing construction in India. It will strengthen the cooperative federalism in the country, he said.

Attacking the previous governments PM Modi said that earlier housing projects were not concerned about the quality of housing infrastructure. But today the country has taken a different approach and we have decided to change the technique of housing, he said adding, ‘why should the country not get better technology ?’

PM Modi said that that the best technology of the world is being used in LHP and this project will fulfil the need of urban housing. He informed that the Canadian technology is being used Light House Project of Lucknow, while Germany’s construction system to be used in Ranchi and New Zealand technology is being used in Agartala.

The LHPs are model housing projects with houses built with alternative technology compitable with geo-climate and hazard conditions of the region. In this project cheap and strong houses are built using special technology. The houses built under this project cost less and will be completely earthquake resistant. Under this project houses will be constructed in Lucknow, Indore, Ranchi, Agartala, Rajkot and Chennai.

During today’s foundation laying programme the Chief Ministers of UP, MP, Andhra Pradesh, Tripura and Gujarat also participated. Since the idea of new technology for the project was conceptualised by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, its Minister Hardeep Singh Puri was also present and addressed the function.

The UP CM Yogi Adityanath in his speech said that the project will prove to be milestone. UP Governor Anandiben Patel was also present on the occasion. The location of Light House Project in Lucknow is Avadh Vihar on Sultanpur Road. According to an official of state government 1040 flats for the economically weaker section will be built in Lucknow. It will cost Rs 131 crore, he said adding that the project would be completed with in one year.
