Prime Minister Narendra Modi begins his three-nation tour today, set to conclude on November 21st. The tour will start in Nigeria, followed by Brazil, and end in Guyana.

In Nigeria, Modi arrives at the invitation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. This marks the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Nigeria in 17 years, the last being Manmohan Singh in 2007. Modi will be welcomed at the Presidential Villa on November 17th, where he will meet President Tinubu. Following their meeting, bilateral relations will be discussed in delegation-level talks.

From Nigeria, Modi will travel to Brazil for the G-20 summit, scheduled for November 18-19. While in Brazil, he will visit Rio de Janeiro to engage with global leaders at the summit. Modi’s visit to Brazil is significant as it provides an opportunity for a possible meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, following their previous encounter at the BRICS summit in Russia.

After Brazil, Modi will head to Guyana from November 19-21. His visit to Guyana is historic, as it is the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister since 1968. During his stay, Modi will participate in the second CARICOM-India summit in Georgetown.

In addition to attending the G-20 summit, Modi will hold important meetings, including one with US President Joe Biden. This tour highlights India’s growing diplomatic engagement with key global partners.
