Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in France on Monday, invited by French President Emmanuel Macron. Today, they will co-chair the AI Action Summit in France. Both leaders will also engage in bilateral talks to discuss key issues.
Ahead of the summit, President Macron hosted a dinner at the Elysee Palace for heads of state and government. PM Modi attended, sharing a warm hug with Macron, and posted pictures on his X handle. He also met tech industry CEOs and other prominent figures, including US Vice President JD Vance.
During the visit, PM Modi will address the India-France CEO Forum. The two leaders will pay tribute to Indian soldiers at the Mazargues War Memorial and inaugurate the new Consulate General of India in Marseille. They will also visit Cadarache, the site of the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER), a significant high-science project.
On the eve of the summit, Macron emphasized the need for France and Europe to streamline their approach to AI development. He highlighted the urgency of staying competitive with global powers like the US and China. Macron referenced the reconstruction of the Notre Dame Cathedral after the 2019 fire, calling it a symbol of resilience, and announced a similar strategy for AI projects in Europe.
