Lucknow, December 25 (HS) While paying tribute to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Prime Minister Narendra Modi here on Wednesday justified the actions taken against the rioters by the Uttar Pradesh government and appealed to people not to damage public property.
“They should sit back and reflect whether they had done in protest against the CAA was right or wrong.The buses they have damaged, the roads they had dug are to be used by his brothers and sisters too.It is their property”, he said, after unveiling a 25-foot statue of Vajpayee and launching a medical university named after him.
In his first visit to the state after anti-CAA stir in which 20 persons have been killed so far, the PM said, the people in this country have been given certain rights but they have also certain responsibilities. “They have certain duties. public property is one of them.A new year is approaching fast.We should dream of a new India in the new year “.
Slamming the opposition for presenting a “false” narrative against the NRC and CAA, he appealed to people to maintain peace and not to indulge in violence. He reiterated that neither would the CAA nor the NPR affect the minority.
Governor Anandiben Patel, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh were among those present on the occasion.
The Atal Statue installed in state secretariat is 25 feet tall and cost about Rs 90 crores.The university named after him will be an integrated university offering education in various fields.
Modi said the CAA was a positive step.So is NPR.None of them will cause any harm either to any Muslim or to any other person living in this country.
Vajapayee’s, he said, used to challenge challenges and believed in finding solution to each and every problem faced by the country. “Following him, I have tried to solve all the problems I had inherited. Article 370 was one of them”, he said.The Prime Minister was still hopeful of the country becoming a five trillion dollar economy by 2024.
Referring to healthcare schemes, Modi said his approach was holistic. “The attempts were made first to prevent a disease, then to provide cheap medicines and finally to stop its recurrence”. He disclosed that as many as 1.25 lakh centers have been opened in rural areas for the welfare of villagers.From Ayushman Bharat scheme 70 lakh poor patients have benefited.
His new mission is to provide pipe water in seven states within a time frame (by the end of 2024) .A sum of Rs 6000 crores has been already earmarked for it.The water scheme named after Atal Bihari Vajpayee was launched earlier today.
Earlier, welcoming him Yogi had informed that UP has in various staages of completion 45 medical collages. Seven of them will be opened soon.In contrast, only 15 such colleges were opened in 70 years before his rule.The gathering was also addressed by Rajnath Singh.
