Patna, June 09 (HS): JDU national vice president Prashant Kishore (PK) has been asked to explain his stand on his meeting with West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee.
Party’s national president and Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar told media persons that Prashant Kishore will attend the national executive of the party here today and give details about his talks with Mamata Banerje.
He further said that Prashant Kishore runs an independent agency on election strategy and his services were used in Andhra Pradesh also. He clarified that he was not deputed by the party to meet Mamata Banerjee.
Meanwhile, the national secretary general of JDU, KC Tyagi has defended the action of the party vice-president, Prashant Kishore meeting the West Bengal chief minister, Mamata Banerjee at Kolkata and claimed that he met her in individual capacity.
In a freewheeling chat with Hindusthan Samachar, Tyagi said that Prashant Kishore was running a consulting company too and he was free to meet any one in his capacity as owner of the company.
“It is like the BSNL connections which are used by the consumers of different political ideologies -be it the Congress, BJP or JDU,” he said.
Similarly, Prashant Kishore’s services are being used by different political parties and leaders.
During the Lok Sabha elecions, Prashant Kishore was not seen in Bihar, but was active in Andhra Pradesh working for Jagan Mohan Reddy. He did not give his consultancy in Bihar in the elections. However, he was hired by the chief minister in 2015 assembly elections and his popular slogan of “Bihar me Bahar hai, abki baar Nitishe Kumar hai” was successful in attracting people towards the JDU. In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, his services were utilised by the BJP in projecting and highlighting Narendra Modi who was then PM candidate.
Some senior party leaders also said here that the subject of PK meeting Mamata Banerjee would be discussed at the national executive committee meeting of JDU being held here at the CM bungalow. They claimed that Prashant Kishore had met the West Bengal chief minister without informing Bihar counterpart. “It was a business call and not political call of a JDU leader”, they said.
His expertise was successful in Bihar assembly elections and Andhra Pradesh assembly elections. But, was rejected by Punjab unit of the Congress during the assembly elections.
