Phulpur hooch tragedy: House of main accused demolished
PRAYAGRAJ, March 25 (HS): The house of main accused in Phulpur hooch tragedy has been demolished on Wednesday. House of Shyam Babu Jaiswal, who is languishing in jail along with seven other accused including his wife and brother, in Agrapatti village under Phulpur police station was demolished on Wednesday.
Last year, seven persons died after allegedly consuming spurious liquor in Amilia village of Phulpur. Liquor vend was owned by Sangita Devi Jaiswal wife of main accused Shyam Babu Jaiswal. Prayagraj police swung into action after back to back hooch tragedies in Pratapgarh, Fatehpur and Handia block of Prayagraj. The clampdown is being carried out chiefly under Section 14(1) of the Gangsters Act, which allows attachment of illegal properties, in order to effectively curb gangsters, mafias and criminals and their associates, the officials said.
