New Delhi, Jan 25 (HS): The Allahabad High Court had banned the playing of DJs in Uttar Pradesh in a loud voice. The DJ operators have filed a petition in the Supreme Court against this decision of the High Court. The Supreme Court admitted this petition for hearing. This petition will be heard on 7 February in the Supreme Court.

Earlier, the Supreme Court had stayed the order of Allahabad High Court giving interim relief to DJ operators. While hearing the special permission petition filed by Sachin Kashyap, the Supreme Court had also issued a notice in this matter. In November last year, the Supreme Court refused to hear an early hearing on a petition filed to demand DJs during the Sunburn Festival.

The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, while hearing, had said that loud music is not good for the ears of elderly people. Significantly, the Allahabad High Court, while hearing a petition, had prohibited the playing of DJs in a loud voice during the marriage, festivals and other public functions.

The Allahabad High Court, in its order, had asked the authorities to strictly follow the rules to prevent noise pollution. For violating this law, there is a provision of imprisonment for up to 5 lakh rupees along with imprisonment for 5 years.
