Pakistani anchor shot dead, dispute over money

Karachi, July 10 (HS): A news anchor was shot dead in Pakistan. Journalist Murid Abbas was killed near Khayaban-e-Bukhari, local cafe in Karachi. After the murder, when the police went to arrest the accused, he also shot himself. The condition of the accused remains serious. He is undergoing treatment.
The assailant was admitted to the hospital in a critical condition where his condition is being considered very critical. Zara Abbas, wife of the died anchor, is also a news anchor. Zara said that the assailant was the business partner of Murid Abbas.
DIG Sharjil Kharal told that Abbas’s friends informed him about the incident. Anchor had some dispute with someone with money. Sharjal Kharal told that in the same incident, Abbas’s friend Khizar Hayat also got two bullets.He was taken to the hospital where he died.
According to the police, the accused was identified as Atif Jamon. Police officer said that he had a dispute with Murid. After that he came into the car and fired openly on the anchor. Murid got two bullets in the stomach and chest.
The police has started investigations and statements of witnesses are being recorded. Police said that CCTV cameras installed in the area will also be checked.Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, President of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), expressed grief over the death of Anchor and condemned the incident. They demanded the Sindh government to take action in the case and arrest the accused.
