Pakistan refuses visas of 58 Sikh pilgrims

New Delhi/Amritsar/Islamabad, Jun. 26 (HS): Pakistan refused to grant visas to 58 Sikh pilgrims on Wednesday. The  people  who are going to that country to observe the death anniversary of Maharaja Ranjit Singh.
Shiromani Gurudwara Manager Committee (SGPC) sent 282 applications for visas, out of which only 224 were granted visas and 58 were not granted visas.Shiromani Gurudwara Manager Committee  secretary Manjit Singh said that he had sent applications of 282 people, out of which only 224 were accepted.
This pilgrim will go to Pakistan from Attari railway station on Thursday through a special train. The Sikhs whose visas have not been sanctioned were displayed outside the SGPC office. These people were demanding that there should be no visa system. They said that we have demanded to abolish visa system. The devotees should be allowed to go without it.
They are waiting for Pakistan’s response. It is worth mentioning that thousands of pilgrims go from India to Pakistan every year on various festive occasions.
