Pakistan court awards death penalty to former president Pervez Musharraf in high treason case
Islamabad , Dec 17 (HS): Former Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf has been sentenced to death. For the first time in the history of Pakistan, a three-member bench of a special court headed by the Chief Justice Waqar Ahmad Seth of the Peshawar High Court pronounced such a sentence on Tuesday. Currently, Pervez Musharraf is in Dubai. On December 3, 2007, Parvez Musharraf was booked for sedition in December 2013 for the Emergency. Musharraf was convicted on March 31, 2014.
Earlier, former President of Pakistan, Pervez Musharraf, had filed a petition in the Lahore High Court (LHC), requesting the stay of pending proceedings before a special court in Islamabad. There is a case of treason against him.
The petition filed by lawyers- Khwaja Ahmad Tariq Rahim and Azhar Siddiqui, asked the LHC to stay the proceedings in the special court until Musharraf’s earlier pending petition from the LHC But the decision is not made.
